(EDIT/UPDATE: I have a tumblr for my art now. Updates get tweeted automatically, so if you follow me on twitter already then you're good. If not:
irkdesu.tumblr.comAlready put some new stuff up. )
I don't have the at home net speed to support deviantArt's auto-play video ads, and I don't feel like foisting them on my watchers who don't feel the need to be subscribers just to eliminate the kind of advertising that every other social network I'm on seems to feel is inappropriate and excessive.
DeviantArt turned into a vehicle for advertising with a wrapper around it that made it look like a portfolio and art site. I'm not sure when the big change occured, but I've seen it happen gradually over the seven years I've been a member.
I can't deal with this anymore. DeviantArt's interface has always been excessively heavy-loading (and it's NOT the art, beleve me) and these embedded videos that aren't even content (and auto-play SOUND) are the last straw. This site is useless to me now. I will find other ways of following the artists that I love.
It's been a long seven years, and I've grown a lot as an artist. One of my big steps in getting more artwork done and rotting my brain less was giving up television and not having it automatically on every hour of the day. Browsing DeviantArt now is like having the television on again. Sorry, just can't do it.
I post regularly on Twitter - in fact I often post art there that I don't post here, because it's such a hassle just to post anything up on dA. You can find me here:
twitter.com/irkdesuI also write fiction and illustrate it and post that all at least once a week over here:
peacock-king.infernalshenaniga…I don't update it much, but I have a LiveJournal here and I do check the comments:
irksnapple.livejournal.com/I'll keep my contact info here current and update via journal if there's something exciting going on. But I will not post any art here any longer, unless dA changes its advertising policies. Sorry people, it's just too much and I won't support it with my art anymore.
Leaving up all old deviations for the sake of, and in gratitude to, fans who faved em.
